The Lilac Inn is centrally located to Lake Champlain, Lake Dunmore, Robert Frost Walking Trail, Moosamaloo National Recreation Area, Pico Killington, Middlebury Snow Bowl, and Sugarbush. There is a wide variety of year around recreation including fishing, canoeing, road biking, hiking, skiing, snow shoeing and horseback riding. We are glad to help with bicycle rentals and box lunches.

Neshobe Golf Club - Neshobe Golf Club is quickly becoming one of the most popular courses in Vermont. Our much heralded layout, designed by Steve Durkee, fits naturally into a landscape of woods, farmland and rolling hills. Since 12 new holes were completed in 1996, golfers have been raving about the immaculate playing conditions, the large undulating greens, elevated tee shots, and our friendly atmosphere. The beautiful Vermont views make it difficult to concentrate on your game, but you'd better, because it truly offers golfers of all skill levels an exciting challenge. Peaceable Hill Game Farm - Peaceable Hill Pheasant Hunting Preserve is a "Regulated Shooting Ground" located in the beautiful Champlain Valley of Vermont. At Peaceable Hill they have hundreds of acres of outstanding pheasant and upland bird habitat that consists of open cropland with corn, milo and grain fields bordered by swale grass ditches and cool season grasses with thicket edges.

Robert Frost Trail: A National Recreation Trail that commemorates Robert Frost's poetry; several of his poems are mounted along the trail in the woods and fields. Blueberries and huckleberries grow in an old field at the far end of the trail The Lilac Inn has a Robert Frost Room. Doug's grandfather Arthur Sawyer was a friend of Robert Frost when he lived in Franconia, New Hampshire.
